Behind the Scenes: Getting Ready for the Barbourne Artists’ Christmas Fair 2024

As the festive season approaches, there’s a palpable sense of excitement amongst the Barbourne Artists’ Collective. Behind the scenes, we are busily preparing to welcome you—our valued customers, art lovers, newsletter subscribers, and loyal collectors as well as all our Barbourne neighbours —to one of the most anticipated local events of the year: the Barbourne Artists’ Christmas Fair on Friday 29th and 30th November.

Taking place at the serene and historic St. George’s Church in Worcester’s beautiful St Georges’s Square, this year’s fair promises to be a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Worcester’s Victorian Christmas Fair. We are  offering something much quieter, more intimate, and truly local. This fair is all about celebrating local talent and friendships in a warm and welcoming environment, where you can take your time to enjoy the artworks, meet the artists, and even ask us questions about our work and inspirations.

As a local artist with over 30 years of practice, I am especially excited to present my newest collections at this year’s event. Known for my impressionist paintings of Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Wales, my works reflect the natural beauty of the landscape and flowers that surround us. My still lifes, featuring seasonal blooms, mostly from my own garden, capture the essence of local nature at its finest. And for those familiar with my work, you’ll be pleased to know I’ve just completed a series of sunflower paintings, which I will look forward to sharing.

What to Expect from My Stall This Year

At the fair, you’ll find an exclusive range of original paintings, available in both large and small sizes. I will also be showcasing a selection of framed, limited edition prints—perfect for adding a touch of local charm to your home - they make unique gifts too… For those looking for more accessible options, I’m offering mounted prints and greeting cards, featuring my most popular designs.

This year, I’m excited to introduce something new: a small collection of art mugs and coasters, based on my original paintings. These charming, practical pieces make ideal small gifts, offering a way to bring a touch of local art into everyday life. However, these will only be available at the Christmas fair, making them a truly special and exclusive offering.

A Fair for Local People by Local Artists

The Barbourne Artists’ Christmas Fair is more than just a shopping event; it’s an opportunity to build and strengthen connections with your local art community. As someone who values local businesses and appreciates the unique, personal touch we offer, this is the perfect chance to support local artists while finding beautiful, high-quality pieces for yourself or loved ones.

Joining me will be my talented fellow collective members: Cherrie Mansfield, Felicity Osborne, Jane Arthur, Nicola Currie, and Caroline Hall. Each of us brings a unique style and perspective to our work, making the fair a diverse and enriching experience for all who attend.

So, mark your calendars for this special event, and be sure to stop by St. George’s Church to explore everything we have to offer. Whether you’re looking to discover a new favourite painting or simply chat with us about our creative processes, we look forward to welcoming you.

Stay Tuned for Updates!

In the lead-up to the event, I’ll be sharing more sneak peeks of the work I’ll have on display. Follow along for updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and perhaps even a closer look at my sunflower paintings!

We look forward to celebrating this festive season with you, surrounded by the beauty of art and community.
