Capturing Malvern's Beauty, Despite the Frost!

Capturing Malvern's Beauty, Despite the Frost!

Last week was an incredibly vibrant day as the Malvern Creatives Connect En Plein Air competition took over the picturesque town. An impressive 150 artists, a wonderful mix of both professionals and enthusiastic amateurs, braved the crisp air to capture the essence of Malvern on canvas. If you caught my chilly updates on Instagram @WorcesterArtist, you’ll know that the conditions were definitely testing! It was a long day, but the energy and camaraderie amongst the artists were fantastic.

What made the day truly special were the many passers by who stopped to admire our works in progress. It was a joy to chat with fellow art lovers, friendly dog walkers, and curious families, all eager to see how we were interpreting the stunning Malvern landscapes. These interactions are always so encouraging and a lovely reminder of the connection between art and community.

As the day drew to a close, our plein air paintings were carefully reviewed by a panel of four esteemed judges. I am absolutely delighted to share some wonderful news with you, my blog readers! My painting from the day received a Highly Commended award in the professional category. As a classically trained artist with a passion for Worcestershire landscapes, this recognition is truly heartening. It reinforces my dedication to capturing the subtle beauty of our local scenery.

For those of you in Worcester and the surrounding areas who appreciate fine art, especially still life floral paintings and depictions of the Worcestershire landscape, I'm excited to announce that this award-winning painting, proudly displaying its rosette, will be featured in the upcoming Barbourne Artists Spring Exhibition at the Artery Studios in Worcester.

I would be absolutely thrilled if you could come along to the exhibition and see it in person, along with many other beautiful pieces from talented local artists: Cherrie Mansfield, Felicity Osborne, Caroline Hall and Jane Arthur. It starts today 14th May until Sunday 18th. I look forward to sharing my artistic journey with you!
