I was overjoyed when a close friend presented me with a stunning new vase as a gift, playfully remarking that she had grown tired of seeing the same three vases repeatedly featured in my paintings. She certainly had a point! Little did she know that her thoughtful gesture would spark a renewed sense of creativity and inspiration within me.

This beautiful bouquet of pink magenta asters became the object of my artistic fascination, as I found myself unable to settle on just one setting in which to paint them. I moved them from room to room, captivated by the way they transformed each space with their vibrant presence. In the end, I couldn't resist capturing their beauty in multiple paintings, each one showcasing the asters in a different setting.

Finally, I decided to depict the asters against the backdrop of my sitting room wall, where they basked in the warm embrace of the afternoon sun. The strong, golden light seemed to bring out the very essence of the flowers, casting intricate shadows and highlighting the subtle nuances of their petals.

As I worked on this painting, I was reminded of the powerful impact that thoughtful gestures, like my friend's gift, can have on our lives. Her simple act of kindness not only provided me with a beautiful new vase but also unleashed a wave of creativity that resulted in a series of memorable and cherished works of art.

Now, when I look upon this painting, I am filled with gratitude for the friendships that enrich my life and the incredible way in which the simplest things can inspire such profound beauty. The pink magenta asters will forever hold a special place in my heart, serving as a reminder of the power of friendship and the magic of light and colour.
