Created in 2020, this painting holds a special place in my heart as it represents my inaugural artistic endeavour to capture the awe-inspiring beauty of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. By employing a loose painting style, I sought to convey the dynamic movement and ever-changing nature of the landscape, as well as the vibrant intensity of the sunlight that bathes the hills in a golden glow.

The Malvern Hills have been a constant source of inspiration and wonder for me since I first moved to Worcestershire in the early 2000s. With each visit, I find myself uncovering new aspects of their beauty, from the rolling contours and lush greenery to the breathtaking panoramas that stretch out before me. The hills seem to possess a magical quality, evoking a sense of timelessness and inviting exploration.

In my painting, I aimed to capture not only the visual appeal of the Malvern Hills but also the emotions they inspire. The sweeping brushstrokes and vibrant colours serve to evoke the exhilaration and freedom one experiences while traversing the hills, while the interplay of light and shadow brings to life the enchanting atmosphere that permeates the landscape.

As I worked on the piece, I found myself reminiscing about my countless visits to the Malvern Hills, each one leaving an indelible imprint on my soul. From leisurely strolls and invigorating hikes to quiet moments of reflection and awe, the memories of my time spent in this stunning corner of the world served as a wellspring of inspiration for my art.

Now, as I gaze upon the finished painting, I am reminded of how truly fortunate I am to live in such a breathtakingly beautiful part of the world. The Malvern Hills, with their ever-evolving landscape and captivating allure, continue to serve as a muse for my artistic expression, a testament to the enduring power of nature to inspire, heal, and connect us to the world around us.
