My absolutely favourite place, and so near to me. I really feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the world! Sketched during another family walk in August 2022 and completed over several days in the studio. We had to have our lunch a bit early as I fell in love with the sky… hopefully you can see why? The hot August sun turned the luscious greenery much lighter with plenty of yellow undertones.

The evergreen and enchanting Symonds Yat in Gloucestershire has been a go to place in my husband‘s family for generations. We have many fond memories of taking our children onto those vast expenses of beautiful green where it never seems to rain!

Sometimes we all go further afield in order to seek new places to enchant us - not appreciating that the real beauty is much closer to home. I have spent many hours lying on those grassy meadows looking up into the sky with majestic, totally magnificent clouds.

Symons Yat is and always will be my place to go to when I want time to stand still.

This painting is a true window to the summery outdoors.
